Common use cases

  • Extracting individual slides from a PDF presentation to use as images
  • Archiving scanned PDF documents as image files
  • Sharing a single page of a report on social media or in a chat
  • Converting PDF product brochures to images for e-commerce listings
  • Creating image-based previews of documents for websites
  • Pulling screenshots from a PDF for use in a presentation or blog post

Which resolution should I choose?

72 DPI produces small files suitable for quick web previews. 144 DPI (standard) is the best balance clear enough to read comfortably, file sizes stay manageable. 216 DPI is for print-quality output or documents with small text that needs to remain sharp.

For JPEG output, images use a white background so transparency in the original PDF renders correctly. PNG output preserves any transparency present in the PDF.
